In December 2018, the MVEF Board renamed its endowment the Gregory A. Fowler and Julie B. Lovins Endowment Fund to honor two dedicated supporters and community members.​

Established in 1999, the fund provides long-term financial support to MVEF. Since reaching its $500,000 goal in 2016, it has continued to grow - now exceeding $700,000 - with annual returns helping to sustain our programs.

 

About Greg Fowler and Julie Lovins

Greg Fowler and Julie Lovins were dedicated volunteers who gave countless hours to MVEF, the League of Women Voters, and other community organizations. Greg, MVEF’s longest-serving board member (2005–2016), was blind from infancy yet earned engineering degrees from Michigan State and Stanford, fueling his passion for education. Julie passed away in 2018, two years after Greg. Though they had no children, their time, generosity, and leadership were instrumental in growing MVEF and supporting quality public education for all students.

The MVEF Endowment strengthens and extends MVEF’s mission, enabling long-term solutions to the district’s challenges. While MVEF funds key programs annually, the Endowment provides a reliable source of funding to spark innovative initiatives. It is professionally managed by the  Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
