Greg Fowler Endowment Fund

The Greg Fowler Endowment fund was created in November 1999 with the goal of providing long-term, perpetual financial support to MVEF. Gifts to the endowment are invested with a portion of the return disbursed to MVEF each year once the fund reaches $500,000. As of the end of the 2015-16 fiscal year, our initial goal was met and we continue to grow the endowment to meet future goals. The fund is named in honor of Greg Fowler, MVEF’s longest-serving board member (2004 – 2016) and beloved community member.

About Greg Fowler

Greg Fowler joined the MVEF Board in early 2004. Greg volunteered for organizations, locally and nationally, supporting education for the past 20 years. He also served on the Mountain View Whisman School District Parcel Tax Oversight Committee for five years. While on the MVEF Board, he served on the operations, finance, endowment, and outreach committees. His professional background was in computer systems and computer networks, and he held an undergraduate degree from Michigan State University and graduate degrees from Stanford University. Greg volunteered in Mountain View, CA in many different capacities, and he once said, “I feel very privileged that I have been able to volunteer. I think it really does add something to the community, to volunteer, to make a contribution and to have an impact.”

MVEF recognizes that funds set aside now, through gifts to the Endowment, are an investment in the long-term health of our community and our schools. The Endowment offers an opportunity for donors to have an impact not just today, but far into the future. Their generosity impacts generations to come.

Donations to the Endowment express a commitment to preserving the values and goals of MVEF far into the future. Through contributions to a permanent, stable, self-sustaining fund, donors leave a legacy of support for the continuing excellence of public education in our schools, and the goal of ensuring that future students receive the same high-quality, well-rounded education that current students do.

What will the Endowment support? 
The MVEF Endowment will support and further the objectives of MVEF.  While MVEF has a demonstrated ability to identify and fund key programs each year, the Endowment will expand the influence of MVEF by permitting the Foundation to undertake longer-term solutions to many of the challenges that face the district. A reliable source of funding can help build a Foundation that can act as a catalyst for new and innovative programs. The MVEF Endowment is professionally managed by the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.
