Preparing our Children for the World Ahead

While academic training is fundamental, a well-rounded education includes many other critical components: creativity, team play, music, art, and sports.  MVEF seeks to ensure that crucial programs do not fall victim to budget cuts due to reduced state funding.  MVEF's mission is to raise money to fund essential programs for all students in the Mountain View Whisman School District.

Program Funding Criteria (approved 6/07)

1.    MVEF funds programs in support of the district’s commitment to delivering an Education for the World Ahead and the associated goals: Academic Excellence, Strong Community, and Broad
Worldview;

2.    Programs in total are intended to touch each child in the district;

3.    Individual programs should touch a large number of children;

4.    Program funds are intended to be distributed equitably among schools regardless of participation rate or contribution level of parents in different schools;

5.    Programs funded by MVEF are not intended to finance activities to meet state-mandated educational standards but rather are focused on going above and beyond the standards with emphasis on the concept of educating the “whole child”;

6.    MVEF must make a meaningful level of financial commitment to any program that involves funds from other sources, such that without MVEF’s funds the program would not be possible or would be of significantly reduced value;

7.    MVEF is committed to a partnership with the district in funding programs deemed important. MVEF will give special emphasis to programs of interest to parents;

8.    MVEF is interested in funding new programs as appropriate to keep donors engaged.
